Dear Reader,
We are thrilled to invite you to the first Online Café on Lathyrus, organized in collaboration with IPBO!
On 25th March 2025 at 12:00 CET, join us for The Potential of Grass Pea: Tools, Traits, and Future Prospects. ☕💻
Gain valuable insights into grasspea from two outstanding experts in the field:
- Dr. Carlota Vaz Patto is a Principal Investigator at ITQB NOVA, Portugal, where she leads the PlantX Lab. Her research focuses on improving grasspea by studying its genetic and genomic traits, particularly its resilience to environmental stresses like drought and pests. With over 20 years of experience in legume research, she applies statistical genetics to enhance the agronomic traits of grasspea. She is committed to engaging young researchers and end-users (such as farmers, processors, and consumers) in exploiting the potential of underutilised legumes.🌱
- Dr. Anjali Verma is a plant molecular biologist specialising in functional genomics and genetic engineering. She holds a Ph.D. in Biotechnology from NABI-RCB, India, and focuses on developing safer grass pea varieties by studying β-ODAP metabolism and its role in stress adaptation. As an Open Doors Fellow, sponsored by the Fernand Lambein Fund, she researched stress signaling and β-ODAP integration, aiming to enhance the grass pea’s resilience and nutritional quality. 🔬
This Online Café offers valuable insights into various approaches to studying grasspea, a legume with immense potential. It provides an excellent platform for learning and networking with researchers, practitioners, and enthusiasts.
Ready to be inspired? 🌟
Kind regards,
The Fernand Lambein Fund
